Sy Pretorius, serves as Chief Executive Officer of CenExel, bringing more than 30 years of global clinical research leadership experience across executive, operational, and medical roles. Throughout his career, Dr. Pretorius has helped drive clinical development programs, early-phase research, and integrated clinical trial services, with a focus on operational excellence, scientific rigor, and patient-centered care.

A physician by training, Dr. Pretorius is recognized for his ability to bridge scientific strategy with operational execution, helping organizations scale while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and innovation in clinical research.

Prior to joining CenExel, Dr. Pretorius served as Chief Executive Officer of Ergomed Group. Before Ergomed, he held the role of Chief Operating Officer at EVERSANA, and earlier in his career served as President of Clinical Development and Chief Medical Officer at PAREXEL. Across these leadership positions, Dr. Pretorius built extensive experience overseeing global clinical development, commercialization, and operational organizations within the life sciences and clinical research industries.

Dr. Pretorius earned his MBChB and M.Med.Sc. degrees from the University of the Free State, an MBA from North-West University, and an MS in Drug Development from University of Southern California. He also holds an FFPM (Hon) in Clinical and Industrial Drug Development from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Royal College of Physicians.

In his free time, Dr. Pretorius enjoys spending time with his wife, their two sons, and their dog, Penny.
